CLOSED-LOOP COMMUNICATION FOR NURSES

Mini-course · 15 minutes · $10 · no CE credit

It doesn't take a close call
with a patient
to learn how to close the loop.

In 15 minutes, learn the three-step loop for taking verbal orders, and actually practice the skill by talking out loud, with an AI colleague persona.
the sbar framework you'll LEARN to use:
Then, practice out loud in a simulated conversation:

Dr. Cho, already turning to leave: "Before I go, a liter of Lactated Ringer's at 500 an hour, and vitals every 30 minutes for two hours."
You: "Lactated Ringer's, one liter…"
Dr. Cho: "Right. She's still waiting on an ICU bed, so she stays with you for now."

She's on her way to another call, and the plan is still only in her head. How might you close the loop before she's out the door?
Three steps, two spoken conversations, fifteen minutes. You'll get feedback on three things: whether you gave a full read-back instead of a nod, whether every detail came back accurately, and whether you got the plan confirmed before the conversation ended.
Practice three conversations every new nurse experiences.
Escalating a concern, calling a physician, and taking a verbal order. Forty-five minutes of practice, all together.
