A treatment plan only works when the family trusts it.
This course teaches you four skills that help you connect with patients in any scenario. Then you practice them out loud, in verbal conversation with six responsive AI patient and parent personas, so the skills are second nature by the time you’re in the room. You’re not memorizing lines, you’re learning through practice, the way your adult brain is designed to, in efficient 15 minute modules. It's building the kind of communication fluency that turns a conversation that would typically feel difficult into shared decision-making.

THE PEOPLE YOU'LL MEET

Four tools. Six families.

Each tool is designed to lighten your visits, not lengthen them.
Learn how it works, then practice in verbal conversation with an AI patient or parent who responds the way real families do, with skepticism, fear, even silence.
Here’s who you’ll meet.

Marisol & Mateo
Guerrero

MEET MARISOL

Ask-Tell-Ask

Marisol's 18-month-old was rushed to the ER last night after a spoonful of shrimp at a family party. This morning she's being handed an epinephrine auto-injector and a list of foods to avoid for life. She's exhausted, frightened, and nodding along. You ask what she's absorbed, share the next step in small, plain-language pieces, and check she can teach it back, so she leaves capable instead of buried.
Use it when a family faces a flood of new information that they need to act on: a new diagnosis, an unexpected result, a change to the plan.
MEET NELSON

Recognize & respond to emotion

His seven-week-old is admitted with RSV and needs oxygen, and he's holding it together so tightly that one more medical detail will break it. Naming his fear out loud, before the plan, is what lets him hear the plan at all.
Use it when a parent's fear is crowding out a decision that has to be made now: giving consent, agreeing to admission, a next step that can’t wait.

Nelson & Djamila
Tavares

Kayla & Wyatt
Brennan

MEET KAYLA

Tell me more

Kayla's declining today's vaccines, politely and immovably, and it would be easy to meet her with a wall of facts. One unhurried invitation surfaces what's underneath: a febrile seizure she watched her nephew have. Now you're talking to the real concern instead of the one on the surface.
Use it when a family's "no" might be masking an addressable worry or fear.
MEET YARITZA

Ask Permission

Yartiza is sixteen, withdrawn, and giving one-word answers. Asking permission before you step into anything personal, and being straight about what stays private, is what turns "I'm fine" into a real conversation.
Use it when an adolescent will close down the moment they feel handled instead of asked.

THEN: WEAVE THEM TOGETHER

Two conversations to move you from practice, to mastery

Once you’ve practiced each tool on its own, two longer conversations with terrified parents who are protecting their children, giving you the opportunity to use all the tools together.
All four tools
Linh & Kai Tran
Linh is a new mother refusing a spinal tap for her feverish newborn, feeling certain that the team is being extreme.
All four tools
Manny & Bento Rocha
Manny is a dedicated father refusing the feeding tube his son needs because it feels like giving up on his quality of life.
By the end of this practice, you’ve built communication fluency so you can stop thinking about technique, and start focusing on connection in your patient and family interactions.
PRACTICE, NOT THEORY

You didn't learn CPR by reading a manual

You learned it with your hands on a manikin, and you did it again, and again, until you were ready to save lives. No one has ever argued that reading about compressions is enough. Communication is a clinical skill too, and it deserves the same treatment.
So you speak with AI patient personas who push back, go quiet, or get frustrated, and you practice until the connections come naturally. Every conversation is evaluated against the same criteria your patients would feel:

Did you make sure it was the right moment to share information?

Did you acknowledge the emotional weight of what they're processing?

Did you involve them in designing the care plan?
